
Laurence H. LaHue is an Emergency Management professional with more than 25 years of experience in hazard mitigation, disaster recovery, and strategic planning. He has developed and led Local Hazard Mitigation Plans and strategies for multiple jurisdictions, including counties in Florida, advancing community resilience and securing federal funding. His career includes leadership roles with Volusia County Emergency Management, where he oversaw CEMP compliance, mitigation programs, COOP/COG planning, evacuation and shelter operations, and disaster recovery. Mr. LaHue also contributed to national recovery efforts, including Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, where he helped develop over 900 FEMA Section 406 mitigation proposals, and later served as a liaison with the Louisiana Office of Emergency Services. He holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science, an MBA, and an MPA, underscoring his strong academic foundation for public service leadership.
Laurence supports JGA through hazard mitigation planning, wildfire risk assessments, and innovative strategy development that help communities reduce risk and strengthen resilience. His favorite JGA values are Glitter and Innovation, reflecting his commitment to going beyond expectations and finding creative, high impact solutions. Outside of work, Laurence enjoys time with his many pets, exploring the country by motorcycle, and reflecting on past accomplishments—including completing the Honolulu Marathon.
